The history of Ed’s New York Pizza actually began in
Montepertuso, Italy on the beautiful and romantic Amalfi coast. It was from there that my great grandparents, Michael and Rosa Aiello, emigrated in the early 1900’s, coming to America and bringing with them generations of their family’s cheese making tradition. Their motto “Aiello for Quality” was imprinted on all their products, reflected the pride and excellence of everything they made.
Having come to live in
Galway in 2005, I proudly have carried this heritage back across the Atlantic from New York City where my family had established itself. I served an apprenticeship at my cousin’s New York restaurant/pizzeria, Posa Posa, a name derived from the Blessed Mother’s words of welcome to the sailors who founded Positano. Consequently, I have captured the essence of what gives NY pizza its reputation and desirability: a thin, delicious crust; the finest tomatoes imported from southern Italy; the freshest vegetables; and, of course, “pizza by the slice” – a birthright of every New Yorker.
At Ed’s New York Pizza you can eat in, carry out or have pizza delivered. Not only do we serve traditional pizzas with a large variety of toppings, but we also make several varieties of stuffed pizzas and a specialty pizza called Fresca. Our upstairs dining room is available for extra seating or can be reserved for small parties and functions. It’s a great place for birthday parties and for sports team celebrations.
